Gamification Design Sprint
Dr. Marigo Raftopoulos is a brilliant gamification researcher and designer who will lead this exciting innovation session. This Gamification Design Sprint is a high-energy, interactive design approach used for business problem solving and creating innovative product or service solutions. At the core of this Gamification Design Sprint we use an agile approach to developing a Minimum Viable Design, that incorporates systems thinking, game design and creative problem solving. Most importantly, this process is a playful and interactive 'learning by doing' experience.

How to Create Gamified Tools
This is a training that will show you how to build your own gamified digital tools. We have Bernardo Letayf with us all the way from Mexico. Bernardo won the award for Best Gamification Software at our conference Gamification Europe 2017 for his excellent tool called BlueRabbit. Everything you need to start developing your own gamified tools or add some gamification in the products you already have is going to be in this session.

The Escape Room
During this training, Michiel will show you how to design an Escape Room and how you can use it in your own company to facilitate learning, improve teamwork and communication.
Why design an Escape Room?
People learn by doing so this makes an escape room an ideal vehicle for gamification (using ingredients from games to trigger behaviour). In an escape room, you are intensively playing for an hour; searching, puzzling, analysing and deducing. But also: collaborating, convincing, leading and following and taking initiative. And you may add dynamics like communication, trust, flexibility, responsibility. Oh, and herd behaviour, competition, stress and time pressure.

Narrative is Key

Narrative is Key
In this workshop, Melinda Jacobs of Subatomic will show you how to find and define the narrative of your experience and design the journey of your user. What’s the reason for the experience? What’s the story you’re telling? What’s the process (journey) you’re facilitating? Once we’ve mapped this out, we’ll explore 4 components to design for and around: challenges, pitfalls/loses, (missed) opportunities, and boosts/wins. You’ll learn what these components are, how they relate to engagement and flow, and how to approach designing for them. Last but not least, we’ll examine how to determine the role your product should - or will - play in your user’s day to day life. Aim of this workshop is to help you understand why games create states of flow, and what is the role, of the games’ narrative to create successful engagement.
